Remote Sign Language Interpreting Service

How to connect:
Sign language users: Connect using a smartphone, tablet, or computer. This would be for both VRS and VRI services.
HSCNI staff members: Connect using your landline/mobile phone the same as any other call. This would be for accepting a VRS call – for VRI in the same location, a device would have to be shared.

You will need access to:
- Internet connection
- Camera installed/attached
- Microphone/speakers (for VRI only)
By Phone
To call a Deaf person (sign language user) all you need to do is call the following number and ask for the person by name.
If they are registered, online, and available, you will be connected via the remote online sign language interpreter.

Prebooked assignments – BSL/ISL
If you have had to arrange to have a consultation with a Deaf sign language user, you can pre-book a VRI session here.
We will need your name, email address, and date and time of the requested VRI session.
You can select either BSL or ISL during the booking process.
You can request a pre-booked time slot by calling: 0333 344 7712 during office hours (leaving a message with your contact details when out of hours)
